One of the hardest parts of any transition in life is becoming accustomed to new customs. Most of us grow up eating animal products, treats, processed foods, etc. so transitioning to a lifestyle filled with whole unprocessed plant based foods can definitely be tricky. One of the things that made my transition to a healthy vegan lifestyle go smoothly was all of the resources that I had. Thanks to the internet, mostly everything we need is right at our fingertips..and even some of the things that aren’t (like books and recipes), aren’t that hard to get your hands in either. Here are some of the people and resources I turned to that have helped me transition my lifestyle.

Kimberly Snyder, The Beauty Detox Solution

Kimberly Snyder (who I have talked about in a few other posts) is my biggest inspiration. It was after watching her speak, that I officially decided to transition from vegetarian to vegan. Kimberly has four books, a website and podcasts filled with so much information. I started off buying her first two books and listening to her podcasts. Her books are filled with delicious recipes and information on what to eat, when to eat, how to eat and much more. Her Raw Cacao Truffle recipe is my go to when I need a treat and her Raw Chocolate Ginger cake is delicious! You can find her books in bookstores and on amazon. Her podcasts are filled with interviews with pioneers in the world of holistic health as well as question and answer segments. On her website you can find a load of information on everything from the beautifying benefits of her famous Glowing Green Smoothie to how to avoid holiday weight gain! You can also find most of the recipes from her books on her website as well as some other recipes. I have had a lot of family and friends ask me questions relating to food and health and I can always find an answer for them through Kimberly’s books, website or podcasts.

Heather Crosby, YumUniverse

Heather Crosby is the author of two books, one of which is basically my food bible, Pantry to Plate. I make her Yucca Fries at least once a month, mmmm! It is excellent for those times when you have a lot of food in the fridge and no idea what to make with it. It is filled with recipes from nut milks, to veggie fries, to desserts! The best part is that instead of just having recipes, it has templates. Want something “cheesy” but don’t have all the ingredients for the recipe you found on google? Check out the Cheesy Comfort Foods template in Pantry to Plate and you can mix and match different foods that you do have to make a delicious dish! This is also a great book to help you get comfortable with your cooking by recognizing the different things you can substitute when you’re out of an ingredient. She also has another book that I’ve yet to check out but I’ll be purchasing it shortly!

DeliciouslyElla

I started off following Ella on Instagram. From there I checked out her website and have made so many of her yummy recipes. Many of them are super simple and require few ingredients, so they are a great place to start. My favorite is one of her sweet potato with nut cheese recipes! She also has a lot of fun desserts! I have not purchased her book yet but that is definitely on my to-do list!

Angela Liddon, Oh She Glows

Angela Liddon is the author of two cookbooks, Oh She Glows Cookbook and Oh She Glows Everyday. I just got my hands on the second and although I have not yet made any of her recipes, I know this is going to be on of my favorite cookbooks. After looking through all the recipes I noticed that they all include some of my favorite ingredients, they are easy to cook and she provides some staple recipes such as nut butters, but milks, cheesy sauce, and more! You can also download her app Oh She Glows on iOS and Android to have recipes right at you fingertips.
